The eMAX is the most advanced remote control for Elebia automatic hooks. It displays all information on a high-resolution screen with a high-profile keypad, yet remains handy and lightweight.

The eMAX allows operators to:

  • Open and close hooks
  • Display weight readings (with compatible hooks equipped with load cell)
  • Configure hook parameters
  • Monitor battery levels and radio signal quality
  • Log events and export data via USB
  • Manage multiple hooks simultaneously

FCC Compliance: This equipment complies with FCC radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment. This transmitter must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter, except in accordance with FCC multi-transmitter product procedures.

4. User Profiles

The eMAX uses three user profiles to determine access levels:

Note: All profiles need a password to login (except User0). When logged out, User0 is logged by default. Admin can use their password to login as any User and modify its password. Service can use their password to login as Admin and modify its password.

5. Controls and Interface

ON/OFF Button:

  • Press to turn eMAX on or off
  • eMAX turns off automatically if no button is pressed for approximately one minute (adjustable in Settings > Auto-Off)

OPEN Button:

  • Press to open the hook
  • eMAX must be on, unlocked, and at least one hook selected

CLOSE Button:

  • Press to close the hook
  • eMAX must be on, unlocked, and at least one hook selected

TARE Button (Gross/Net):

  • Short press (less than 2 seconds): Alternates between NET and GROSS weight
  • Press and hold (more than 2 seconds): Stores the weight as tare (eMAX must be unlocked, hook selected). Tares are stored in the hooks, not in the remote.

Directional Keypad:

  • Move the yellow frame on the screen
  • Unlock the eMAX
  • Select hooks
  • Enter and navigate through menus

Note: Only units with sensor in the magnet can display the ring position. In hooks without encoder, open/closed info is managed via software.

8. Info Center

Accessible to all users. Displays information for hooks and eMAX.

Hook Information:

  • Birth: Date of manufacturing
  • WLL: Working Load Limit
  • Total Cycles: Cycles since unit was manufactured (one cycle = open and close)
  • Partial Cycles: Cycles since last service
  • Number of overloads: How many times overload has occurred
  • Max Overload: Highest overload value, time, and user logged
  • Last maintenance: Date of last maintenance
  • Next maintenance: Recommended date for next maintenance

Remote Information:

  • Firmware: Version installed
  • Serial: Serial number
  • Birth: Date of manufacturing

9. Settings Menu

Visible for Administrator and above.

Hooks:

  • Serial: Enter serial number of hooks to pair with eMAX
  • Zero (if hook has load cell): Set calibration zero (hook must be closed, steady, no weight or slings suspended)
  • Span (if hook has load cell): Set calibration span value (type span value from Elebia or calibrate using a suspended load of known weight)

Warning: No one without appropriate training should modify these parameters. Modifying parameters can result in cancellation of warranty.

10. Setup (Pairing and Calibration)

Visible for Admin and above.

If purchased together: Setup is done at factory and unit is ready to use.

If eMAX purchased separately or as replacement:

  1. Log in as Admin or Service (Profile > Login)
  2. Go to Settings > Hooks
  3. Enter serial numbers of hooks to be controlled
  4. If hooks are on, a green radio signal will appear – pairing is complete
  5. If hook has load cell and is calibrated, calibration values are displayed
  6. If load cell values are not displayed, calibration is needed

Calibration:

  1. Zero calibration (Settings > Hooks > Zero)
  2. Span calibration (Settings > Hooks > Span)

11. Firmware Update

Visible for Administrator and above.

Windows:

  1. Log in as Administrator or Service (default admin password: 0000)
  2. Turn off eMAX
  3. Connect to computer via USB
  4. Press and hold left direction on keypad, then turn on eMAX
  5. Replace old firmware.bin with new one in folder elebia_eMax (filename must be exactly firmware.bin)
  6. Disconnect eMAX from USB (it will turn off)
  7. Turn on eMAX
  8. Yellow "!" appears on status bar indicating updated firmware
  9. Verify in Info Center > Remote

macOS:

  1. Log in as Administrator or Service
  2. Turn off eMAX
  3. Connect to computer via USB
  4. Press and hold left direction on keypad, then turn on eMAX
  5. Delete old firmware.bin from elebia_eMax folder
  6. Empty trash
  7. Open Terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal)
  8. Type: dd if= then drag new firmware.bin file into terminal window, then type: of=/Volumes/ELEBIA_eMAX/firmware.bin conv=notrunc and press enter
  9. Disconnect eMAX (it will turn off)
  10. Turn on eMAX

Troubleshooting: If eMAX does not wake after update (Windows bug), open eMAX case (4 screws under bumpers), disconnect and reconnect battery, then repeat update process.

12. Warranty
