If you find that your device is experiencing communication issues, it may be due to a broken antenna. This can occur for various reasons, including wear and tear, impact, or even being pinched by a load. A severed antenna can significantly affect the communication between the remote control and the hook, leading to operational challenges. Fortunately, there is a way to repair the antenna without needing to replace the entire hook electronics assembly, as extra antenna length is typically left inside the unit for such situations.
Repair Procedure
Step 1: Strip the Outer Sheath
Begin by carefully removing approximately 8 cm of the black outer covering of the antenna. This process is similar to stripping a cable. Make sure to take off the black plastic jacket to expose the internal components.
Step 2: Expose and Trim the Shielding Mesh
Once the braided mesh shielding is visible, gently pull it back and cut it. It’s crucial to exercise caution during this step to avoid damaging or stripping the antenna core, which is protected by white insulation.
Step 3: Identify the Sections
At this stage, you should have two distinct sections:
- The antenna with shielding up to the stripped section.
- The exposed inner core, which is surrounded by white insulation and extends beyond the stripped section.
Step 4: Protect with Heat Shrink Tubing
To ensure the exposed core is adequately protected, use heat shrink tubing. Slide the tubing over the exposed core and part of the antenna. This will help maintain the integrity of the antenna and prevent further damage.
Step 5: Reinstall the Antenna
Finally, place the antenna back in its original position within the unit. Ensure it is secured properly to avoid any future issues.
Important Note
Please be aware that this repair procedure can only be performed once. The antenna has a limited extra length inside the unit, and repeating the process may eventually leave insufficient length for proper operation. If you encounter further issues after this repair, it may be necessary to consider a replacement of the hook electronics assembly.
By following these steps, you can restore communication functionality to your device and get back to using it effectively. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our customer support team!
