LED Indicator System
Hooks manufactured by Elebia feature an advanced LED indicator system designed to provide operators with a clear and immediate visual reference of the hook’s current status. This feature improves safety and efficiency during lifting operations by allowing users to quickly verify whether the hook is open, closed, in motion, or requires maintenance actions such as battery charging.
Models Equipped with LED Indicators
All Elebia hooks support LED signaling; however, the integration method varies depending on the model.
Not all hooks include LEDs integrated directly into the hook body.
In the evo series, LEDs are not built into the hook itself. Instead, the hook status is displayed through a bumper with integrated LEDs, which is an optional accessory that must be purchased separately.
In contrast, other Elebia models, including Neo, C5/C6, eTRACK, S40, and Dropper, incorporate LED indicators as a standard built-in feature. This allows operators to directly visualize the hook’s operational status without requiring additional accessories, simplifying and streamlining lifting operations.
LED Color Meanings
Each LED color corresponds to a specific operational condition of the hook:
-White LED – Battery charge required: When the white light appears, it indicates that the battery level is low and needs recharging soon. Continued use with a low battery may lead to communication or operational failures, potentially compromising safety.
-Green LED – Hook open / Load not attached: The green light signifies that the hook is in the open position and no load is currently secured.
-Red LED – Hook mechanism in motion: The red light appears while the hook’s closing or opening mechanism is operating. Lifting operations must not be performed while the red LED is active, as the mechanism may be partially engaged, risking damage to the hook or compromising safety.
-Blue LED – Hook closed / Load secured: The blue light confirms that the hook is fully closed and locked, indicating that it is safe to lift the load. This status ensures that the closing mechanism is in its final, secure position, and that the load is correctly engaged.
Power Saving and Standby Modes
To optimize battery life, the LED indicators automatically switch to a blinking mode when the hook remains idle for a period. In this mode, the LEDs emit a slow, intermittent flash to indicate that the system is powered on but inactive. In models such as the Neo50 or Neo100, when the Smart Nap function is activated, having the hook in the open position with the trigger down disconnects the battery power for energy saving. This causes the LEDs turn off and not display the hook status. The hook will be automatically powered again when the trigger is moved up with the hook in the closed position.
Special Functions – S40 Model
The S40 model features specific LED behavior for additional safety feedback. When there is load pressure on the pin, the blue LED flashes differently from the standard standby pattern. This allows operators to visually confirm that the hook is currently under load. It is crucial to release the load only when there is no pressure on the pin, ensuring safe and smooth disconnection of the lifting accessory. Additionally, to prevent the hook from closing again unintentionally before it has been lifted, when Autoclose is active, after opening, the LEDs will stay solid green for a few seconds before Autoclose is deactivated. Once the LEDs start blinking again, Autoclose will be active once more.
Special Functions – Neo Models with Load Cell
The Neo20, Neo20s, Neo50, Neo60 and Neo10 models equipped with load cell feature advanced LED behavior to provide real-time load status feedback.
When the hook detects load through the integrated load cell, the blue LED changes from the standard standby pattern to a distinct flashing sequence. This visual indication allows operators to immediately confirm that the hook is under tension.
This function enhances operational safety by clearly signaling when load is present. The lifting accessory must only be released once the LED indicates that there is no load detected by the load cell, ensuring safe and controlled disconnection.
In Summary
The LED indicator system in Elebia hooks is a vital feature that enhances operational safety and efficiency. By understanding the meanings of each LED color and the specific functionalities of different models, operators can ensure safe lifting practices and maintain the integrity of their equipment. This knowledge not only promotes a safer working environment but also contributes to the longevity and reliability of Elebia hooks.
