Understanding the Position Encoder and Calibration for Automatic Lifting Hooks
The position encoder is a crucial component of our automatic lifting hooks, as it accurately measures the position of the hook. This sensor ensures that the hook operates smoothly and safely, allowing for precise lifting and lowering of loads.
Calibration is an essential process that involves measuring and saving the exact angles for both the open and closed positions of the hook. Proper calibration ensures that the hook functions correctly, enhancing safety and efficiency during operation. All our automatic lifting hooks equipped with position encoders are calibrated at the factory, providing you with a reliable product right out of the box.
To calibrate your automatic lifting hook, start by ensuring that the hook is in the closed position. If you are using an eMAX model, make sure it is turned off. Begin the calibration process by pressing the hook button and inserting the battery. You will hear a series of beeps; once this sequence starts, release the button and press it again. The hook will then initiate the calibration sequence, moving to the open position and signaling with a beep before returning to the closed position for another beep. After this operation, you can verify the calibration by pressing the button to check if the hook reaches the end of its travel correctly. If necessary, repeat the calibration process, especially after changing PCBs, to ensure accuracy.
You may need to recalibrate your hook in the following situations:
- If the PCB is replaced
- If the PCB is reset
- If the motor or encoder is replaced or moved
For a visual guide on how to calibrate your hook, please refer to the instructional videos provided. Before starting, ensure that your automatic lifting hook is in the closed position and that the eMAX is turned off.
